When Jack realizes his beloved teacher Miss Bing is out on maternity leave, his innocent brain is sent into a spiral to understand how that could have possibly happened. She isn't married! She talks about cats and plays bingo at night! This CAN'T be MY teacher, Miss Bing?!
Determined to find answers, 7-year-old Jack starts asking questions, causing the adults in his life to do what adults do best—panic, over-explain, dodge, and accidentally make things WAY more confusing. Through a series of humorous conversations, half-answers, and well-intentioned explanations involving far-fetched metaphors, Jack finds himself desperate to understand the truth behind "how Miss Bing got her son."
The story balances laughter with reassurance, helping kids understand the magic behind "the birds and the bees" in a way that feels honest, safe, and developmentally appropriate—while giving parents plenty of moments to laugh at themselves.
